Before graduating from the University of Florida in 2010, Arun was recruited by several companies. Hess was his number one choice. “I'd interviewed with several companies, and worked for a few,” Arun says. At Hess, I felt very comfortable with the people I met and instinctively knew that it was the right choice.” Arun also cites stability and career development as reasons why he accepted Hess’ offer. “It's important to do your research before joining a company,” Arun explains. “I did, and I found a lot of longevity within Hess. I can't count the number of people I met who have been with Hess for over 20 years. That told me this company was dedicated to developing its people and keeping them happy.”
Arun participates in the Professional Development Program (PDP) which allows recent college graduates to learn about all aspects of Retail Operations. Upon successfully completing the 18 month program, participants are promoted to a Market Representative role. In this position, they oversee multiple Hess Retail sites. “Retail is a challenging career with many opportunities at Hess,” Arun says. “There honestly aren't two days alike and that's what keeps it exciting. You see and feel what it is like to be a sales associate, assistant manager and general manager within the span of 12-18 months. It's tough, but there are many resources and tools at your disposal to help throughout the process. The end result is the reward.”
